Die Dosis macht das Gift – eine Analyse zum Einfluss von Bonuszahlungen auf die Profitabilität und das Risiko von Banken

Abstract

Parallel zum Privatsektor versuchen auch die Aufsichtsbehörden, die Vergütungspraktiken in Banken zu reformieren. Bemerkenswert dabei ist die Bandbreite an teils stark voneinander abweichenden Reformansätzen, was vor allem dem Mangel an empirischen Erkenntnissen zur Wirkung von Bonuszahlungen auf Profitabilität und Risikonahme von Banken geschuldet ist. Der Beitrag beschreibt die Ergebnisse einer neuen Studie zu den Bonuszahlungen in 67 Banken in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz, die kausale Zusammenhänge zwischen Bonuszahlungen und der Geschäftsentwicklung im Kapitalmarktbereich der Banken identifiziert.
