Nachlassende Investitionsdynamik in Ostdeutschland

Abstract

Das Wirtschaftswachstum in den alten und den neuen Bundesländern hat sich seit 1997 weitgehend angeglichen, und die Wirtschaftsleistung je Erwerbsfähigen in Ostdeutschland hat sich seit Mitte der neunziger Jahre bei knapp 60% des westdeutschen Niveaus eingependelt. Der Aufholprozess ist unzweifelhaft ins Stocken geraten, denn seit dem Jahr 2000 wird in Ostdeutschland pro Kopf nicht mehr investiert als in Westdeutschland. In den Jahren 2001 und 2002 wurden die Ausgaben für neue Anlagen in Ostdeutschland sogar jeweils rund 8 Mrd. € gekürzt.
