Krankenhäuser auf dem Land: Bürger sind gegen längere Wege

Abstract

67% der Wähler haben sich in einer Volksbefragung in Österreich gegen die Zusammenlegung dreier kleinerer Krankenhäuser zu einem Zentralkrankenhaus ausgesprochen. Selbst dort, wo sich durch den Neubau die Entfernung zum nächsten Krankenhaus nicht verändern würde, lehnt immer noch jeder zweite Bürger die Reform ab. Mit jedem Kilometer zusätzlichen Fahrweg steigt die Ablehnung in der Bevölkerung um weitere 1,5 Prozentpunkte. Der Wunsch der Bevölkerung nach wohnortnaher Versorgung erschwert selbst medizinisch wünschenswerte Krankenhausreformen.
