Zur Effizienz der Hochschulen in den ost- und westdeutschen Flächenländern

Abstract

Die Effizienz der Hochschulen in den Flächenländern Ost und West liegt im Durchschnitt auf annähernd gleichem Niveau. Innerhalb der ostdeutschen Flächenländer sind auf Länderebene zwischen den Universitäten jedoch erhebliche Effizienzunterschiede festzustellen. Zu diesen Ergebnissen kommt das IFO INSTITUT, Niederlassung Dresden, in einer Effizienzanalyse für deutsche Universitäten und Fachhochschulen. Zur Bestimmung der Effizienz werden zwei Ansätze, die Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) sowie die Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA), herangezogen. Der Beitrag gibt einen Einblick in die Methode und Anwendung der Effizienzanalyse und zeigt im Anschluss die Ergebnisse der Untersuchung für beide betrachteten Hochschultypen (Universitäten und Fachhochschulen) auf.
