Abstract

To what extent does the analysis of the evolution of the articles published since 1979 in Travail et Emploi draws a coherent story ? In an attempt to answer this question, we have analysed the titles and keywords of the articles published in the journal over these four decades. To explain the evolution of the emerging topics, we develop three arguments. First, as Travail et Emploi is initially an administrative journal published by the Ministry of Labour, these evolutions are partly linked to the ups and downs of legislative developments, public policies and statistical production. Secondly, some of these evolutions can be linked to the transformations in the way social sciences have analysed work and employment since Travail et Emploi became an academic journal. Third, these evolutions quite naturally reflect the profound and real transformations of work and employment. JEL : J20, J30, J40, J50, J60, J70, J80
