Abstract

Topic of this paper is chronic long-term unemployment. It offers an overview over several structural labour market characteristics and regional differences, focusing on unemployed persons in North Rhine-Westphalia whose employment histories are dominated by very long unemployment and very short employment durations. These stock analyses of the unemployed are supplemented by analysis of transitions into employment and their structural differences.
