Trends And Challenges In Human Resource Provision In The Software Sector In Bulgaria

In one of the most dynamic and high-tech sectors, such as the IT sector, the main and most valuable resource are not the technologies, platforms and the established organizational policies, but rather the people who create, use and develop them. And although most software companies realize this, they face increasing difficulties in recruiting professionals with the necessary skills, experience and knowledge. The aim of the article is to present the tendencies in the development of the software sector in Bulgaria, as well as to identify the main problems that software companies face in recruitment and retention of quality specialists. The difficulties faced by the software industry both in terms of finding а highly qualified workforce and the new challenges of managing in a hybrid or work-from-home model are examined. The study applies methods of analysis, synthesis, inside researches and experience summarization. Based on personal observations from visits to career, education and business-oriented forums in the IT sector, interview-conversations with managers and representatives of HR and Recruitment teams in a number of IT organizations, specific proposals are formulated to reduce the imbalance between employment in the sector and retention of the qualified specialists. What matters here is not only the search of new approaches to create better teamwork and satisfaction of the assigned roles, but also a complete redefinition of success for the specific organization in the context of the new dynamic labor circumstances.
