Digitalisierungsanwendungen und Identifikation von Digitalisierungstrends im Mittelstand

Abstract

Kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU) in Deutschland schreiten laut Umfragen und Digitalisierungsindizes zwar voran, sind jedoch weniger digitalisiert als Großunternehmen und befinden sich im Vergleich zu KMU in Europa eher im Mittelfeld. Eine Herausforderung für KMU besteht darin, aus der Vielzahl neu aufkommender Technologien und Anwendungen, diejenigen zu finden, die für das eigene Unternehmen und die vorliegenden Herausforderungen geeignet sind. Zentrale Fragestellung dieses Diskussionsbeitrags ist es, welche Anwendungen und Technologien künftig für KMU relevant sind. Um diese Frage anzugehen, wurden aktuelle Studien zum Stand der Digitalisierung und zur Technologienutzung in KMU und Großunternehmen (Kapitel 2) erfasst. Projekte aus der Praxis, die bereits von KMU geplant und umgesetzt sind, wurden erhoben. Diese Beispiele sind in die Datenbank Praxisbeispiele@Mittelstand eingeflossen, die zusammen mit diesem Diskussionsbeitrag veröffentlicht wird. Die Datenbank enthält nun insgesamt 218 Praxisbeispiele (Stand: 12/2022). Eine Übersicht zu den Beispielen der Datenbank befindet sich in Kapitel 3. Um die relevanten Digitalisierungstechnologien der kommenden Jahre zu identifizieren, wurden vorhandene Studien, Trends im Internet, die Anzahl an Patenten und die Anzahl an Softwareprojekten in Bezug auf Digitalisierungstechnologien ausgewertet (Kapitel 4). Anschließend wurde eine qualitative Befragung von Expertinnen und Experten zur Validierung der Ergebnisse durchgeführt (Kapitel 5) sowie eine zusammenführende Analyse und ein Ausblick (Kapitel 6 und Kapitel 7) erfasst.
