Firmenalter und Kreditrationierung: Eine mikroökonomische Analyse mit IFO-Umfragedaten

Abstract

In den letzten Jahren wird die Rationierung von Krediten häufig als Ergebnis asymmetrischer Informationen zwischen Kreditgeber und -nehmer gesehen. Dabei kann es im Sinne der Gewinnmaximierung optimal sein, einen nicht markträumenden Zinssatz festzulegen. Die Vergabe von Krediten zu höheren als den marktüblichen Zinssätzen ist durch die damit verbundene adverse Selektion oder adverse Anreize ausgeschlossen. In dieser Arbeit wird die Bedeutung des Alters und der Dauer der Geschäftsbeziehungen einer Firma mit ihrer Bank für das Ausmaß der Asymmetrie der Information und damit der potentiellen Kreditrationierung untersucht. Die aus diesen Ansätzen resultierenden Hypothesen für die Wahrscheinlichkeit der Kreditrationierung einer Firma in Abhängigkeit von der Dauer ihrer Geschäftsbeziehungen bzw. ihres Alters, das diirch ihre Größe approximiert wird, werden auf der Basis von IFO-Mikrodaten empirisch überprüft. Dabei wird die Asymmetrie der Information direkt erfaßt.
