Biokraftstoffe: Ziele, Chancen und Risiken

Abstract

Die vorliegende Studie setzt am Zielsystem an, das einer verstärkten Nutzung von Biokraftstoffen zugrunde liegt. Dabei werden diejenigen Zielkategorien identifiziert, mit denen ein weiterer Ausbau der Biokraftstoffe am ehesten zu rechtfertigen ist. Ferner wird der Frage nachgegangen, welche grundsätzlichen Chancen und Risiken mit einem vermehrten Biokraftstoffeinsatz einhergehen. Diese bestimmen letztlich, inwieweit die augenblicklich geäußerten Kritikpunkte stichhaltig sind. In diesem Zusammenhang wird demnach geklärt, welche (regionalen) Ausbaupotenziale für Biokraftstoffe noch bestehen, welche Nachhaltigkeitskriterien dabei zu berücksichtigen sind und wie schließlich die Umwelt- und CO2-Bilanz der Biokraftstoffe und der fossilen Kraftstoffe ausfällt.
