Abstract

The logistics industry is due to globalization and technology integration i.e. IT, RFID and GPS a huge growth industry worldwide and especially in Europe and Germany. Although the qualification tracks in academic fields do not match these trends and perspectives as still only a few universities have focused their business and engineering teaching programs on this interesting sector. This paper gives an overview and describes some examples of leading German universities with logistics education fields. Further on the authors describe a possible structuring and design process for a logistics study program. Therefore this paper provides a unique combination concerning logistics academic qualification regarding supply analysis and guidelines for a practical study program development in logistics.
