Ach wie gut, dass niemand weiß ...? Anmerkungen zur Methodenwahl bei Institutsrankings

Abstract

Für die Diskussion verschiedener Verfahren zur Erstellung bibliometrischer Analysen und Rankings von Wirtschaftsforschungsinstituten werden zwei neuere, in den "Perspektiven der Wirtschaftspolitik" publizierte Studien herangezogen. Demnach kann die Normierung mit der Zahl der Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen oder Akademiker und Akademikerinnen vor allem bei weniger selektiven Gewichtungsmethoden wesentlichen Einfluss auf die Ergebnisse haben; die unterschiedlichen Methoden für die Erstellung der Datenbasis haben zudem großen Einfluss auf Datenqualität und Ergebnisse. Rankings auf der Basis verschiedener Methoden zur Qualitätsgewichtung sind untereinander oftmals hoch korreliert, liefern aber sehr unterschiedliche Platzierungen einzelner Institute.
