Beschäftigung liegt im Mai erstmals wieder über dem Vorkrisenniveau

Abstract

Am 19. Mai 2021 durften Gastronomie (Innen- und Außenbereiche), Sport-, Freizeit- und Kulturbetriebe, Hotels sowie Bäder unter besonderen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen nach mehr als einem halben Jahr in ganz Österreich wieder öffnen. Damit gab es erstmals seit November 2020 österreichweit keine nennenswerten pandemiebedingten Einschränkungen mehr für die Beschäftigung. Diese konnte Ende Mai 2021 auch erstmals wieder das Vorkrisenniveau übertreffen. Allerdings darf dieser Befund nicht darüber hinwegtäuschen, dass die Lage auf dem Arbeitsmarkt weiter angespannt bleibt. Einerseits, weil es Wirtschaftsbereiche gibt, die das Vorkrisenniveau noch nicht erreicht haben, andererseits, weil die Arbeitslosigkeit noch merklich höher liegt als im Vorkrisenjahr. Zu den Branchen, die noch nicht an das Vorkrisenjahr anschließen konnten, zählen die kontaktintensiven Bereiche Beherbergungs- und Gaststättenwesen, die Dienstleistungen des Sports, der Unterhaltung und Erholung, der Land-, Luft- und Schiffverkehr sowie die persönlichen Dienstleistungen.
