On multidimensional diversity orderings with categorical variables

Abstract

We axiomatically characterize a family of multidimensional diversity orderings which evaluates the dissimilarity of a population of individuals who di§er in many personal attributes represented by categorical variables. An empirical application highlights the relevance and the easy applicability of our analysis
