Changement structurel dans le secteur canadien de la fabrication, 1970-1990

Abstract

Le present document examine le changement structurel qui s'est produit a l'echelle nationale et regionale dans cinq grands groupes industriels de l'economie canadienne : les industries a forte intensite de ressources, les industries a forte intensite de main-d'oeuvre, les industries a fortes economies d'echelle, les industries productrices de biens differencies et les industries a fortes intensite de recherche. Trois aspects du changement structurel sont etudies. Premierement, on examine l'evolution de l'importance de chaque groupe d'industries au cours des vingt dernieres annees. Deuxiemement, on analyse le degre de changement a l'interieur de chaque groupe, c'est-a-dire l'evolution de l'importance d'industries particulieres a l'interieur de chaque groupe et la nature de la variation du nombre d'emplois a l'interieur de chaque industrie. Troisiemement, on determine dans quelle mesure les ecarts salariaux se sont elargis avec le temps.
