Innovazione nel Sistema Creditizio del Mezzogiorno negli Anni Novanta

Abstract

Tra la fine degli anni Ottanta e i primi anni Novanta si sono verificate nel sistema bancario italiano trasformazioni di tale rilievo da rappresentare veri e propri elementi di discontinuita' rispetto al modello definito dalla legge bancaria del 1936 e consolidato dall'attivita' di regolamentazione e di vigilanza svolta dalla Banca d'Italia nel secondo dopoguerra. Quest'ultima ha svolto un importante ruolo in questo processo attraverso mutamenti indotti nell'impostazione dell'attività di vigilanza, orientata verso una intensificazione della concorrenza tra gli intermediari, e il contributo fornito, direttamente e indirettamente, a significative modificazioni della normativa bancaria e del quadro istituzionale. Questi mutamenti della struttura del sistema creditizio italiano hanno avuto luogo in un contesto economico produttivo fortemente segnato da tratti dualistici tra Centro-nord e Mezzogiorno che le vicende della congiuntura della prima meta' degli anni Novanta hanno ulteriormente accentuato. Il presente lavoro si propone di fornire delle indicazioni preliminari circa gli effetti di questi mutamenti del sistema creditizio meridionale sull'economia del Mezzogiorno nel corso degli anni Novanta.
