Abstract

2000년대 들어 중국의 부상과 함께 미국과 중국의 무역불균형이 빠르게 확대되었다. 양국의 무역불균형이 지속되는 원인에 대한 다양한 논의가 있는 가운데, 트럼프 행정부 출범 이후 미국은 지속적으로 환율 문제를 거론하며 중국을 압박해왔다. 중국은 시장 여건을 반영할 수 있도록 환율제도를 개선해왔으며 위안화 환율이 충분히 절상되었다고 주장하면서 환율 문제를 둘러싼 공방이 지속되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 중ㆍ미 경상수지 불균형의 현황과 그에 따른 통상분쟁 전개 상황을 살펴보고 경상수지 불균형과 실질환율 및 환율제도의 상관관계를 실증분석하였다.
