Abstract

북한이 국경봉쇄를 지속하면서 북한경제를 조망하는 데 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본고의 목적은 위성자료를 새롭게 활용하여 북한의 시장활동을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 소비시장의 시기별 발달과 그 특징을 밝히는 것이다. 이 연구는 위성사진을 활용하여 북한의 시장과 물류에 대한 정량적 분석을 최초로 시도한 연구라는 점에서 선행연구와 차별점이 있다. 보조적으로 분석한 북한의 수입/도매/소매 가격 변화 분석도 사상 처음으로 도매와 소매 마진을 분석하여 도소매 상인의 역할을 규명하였다는 점에서 기존 연구와 차별화된다. As North Korea continues to blockade its borders, it is difficult to study the North Korean economy. The purpose of this study is to analyze North Korea’s market activities by using satellite data in a new way and to identify the characteristics of market development over time. This study is different from previous studies in that it is the first to attempt a quantitative analysis of North Korea’s markets and logistics using satellite data. To complement the analysis of the market and logistics, this study also analyzes the changes in import, wholesale, and retail prices in North Korea, which is also different from previous studies in that it analyzes wholesale and retail margins for the first time to identify the role of wholesale and retail merchants.
