Abstract

Italian Abstract: Scopo di questo saggio è interrogare il dibattito Croce-Einaudi sul rapporto tra liberismo e liberalismo in termini categoriali: a cosa pensano quando si riferiscono a ciò che del liberalismo è l’economico, l’etico, il giuridico e/o il politico? Cosa si sta difendendo quando si sostiene l’unità e/o la distinzione e/o la separazione tra liberalismo e liberismo? Qual è la posta in gioco? Tale interrogazione permette di mostrare che: 1) nel dibattito sono in gioco visioni dell’uomo e della libertà; 2) tali “antropologie” sono (a) a monte delle concezioni dell’economico, etico, giuridico e/o politico; (b) fondamentali per chiarificare le diatribe e le incomprensioni che questo dibattito continua ancora ad alimentare. In conclusione si mostrerà che la domanda “qual è il rapporto tra liberismo e liberalismo?”, nasconde un’istanza normativa che rappresenta la vera posta in gioco del dibattito: “quale deve essere il rapporto tra liberismo e liberalismo affinché sia preservata o attualizzata una determinata visione dell’uomo?”. English Abstract: The purpose of this essay is to question the debate Croce-Einaudi on the relationship between “liberism and liberalism” in conceptual terms: what they think of when they refer to what is the “economic”, the “ethical”, the “legal” and/or “political” of liberalism? What are they defending when they maintain the unity and/or the distinction and/or the separation between liberism and liberalism? What is at stake? This query allows me to show that: 1) visions of man and freedom are at stake in the debate; 2) such “anthropologies” (a) constitutes the background of their conceptions of the economic, ethical, legal and/or political; (b) clarify the fundamental disputes and misunderstandings that this debate still continues to feed. In conclusion, I show that the question “what is the relationship between liberism and liberalism?” hides a normative instance that represents the true stakes of the debate: “what ought to be the relationship between liberism and liberalism in order to preserve or implement a certain vision of man?”.
