Nouveaux enseignants : Quel soutien ?

Abstract

Dans de nombreux pays, les enseignants moins expérimentés (ceux ayant moins de 5 années d’expérience dans l’enseignement) sont, par comparaison avec les enseignants plus chevronnés, plus susceptibles de travailler dans des établissements difficiles et moins susceptibles d’indiquer avoir confiance en leurs propres capacités en tant qu’enseignants. La plupart des pays ont mis en place une offre d’activités destinées à préparer les enseignants à leur emploi, telles que les programmes d’initiation et de tutorat.D’après les chefs d’établissement, environ 44 % des enseignants travaillent dans des établissements proposant des programmes formels d’initiation à tous les nouveaux enseignants ; 76 %, dans des établissements donnant accès à des activités informelles d’initiation ; et 22 %, dans des établissements proposant des programmes d’initiation uniquement aux enseignants débutants dans la profession. La participation des enseignants aux programmes d’initiation et de tutorat, selon leurs déclarations, est inférieure au niveau d’offre indiqué par les chefs d’établissement.
