Abstract

This report emphasises the need for adaptable governance frameworks to navigate the rapid advancements and complexities of artificial intelligence (AI). Highlighting the potential and challenges of AI, this paper advocates for the inclusion of proactive strategies that anticipate future developments and ensure responsible innovation. It maps existing OECD and related initiatives in AI to illustrate how the five elements of anticipatory governance of the OECD Framework for Anticipatory Governance of Emerging Technologies apply to AI governance. The learnings and insights in this domain can help guide the governance of other emerging technologies.
