Development Cooperation in the Field of Savings Banks' Corporate Social Responsability

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the current situation of Development Cooperation in the field of Spanish savings banks' Social Work, in order to assess their degree of involvement in a topic increasingly crucial for society and the general public. Findings of the exploratory study reflected a large increase in the aid from such entities to promote the development in underdeveloped countries. The role of Development Non-Governmental Organizations (DNGOs) in the design and implementation of such corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs is also highlighted. Because of their nature, they are very close to vulnerable groups, and they are powerful detectors of emerging social needs.
