Pobreza Y Vivienda En España: 2004-2011

Abstract

La literatura contempla la vivienda como una de las consecuencias de la pobreza en los hogares. En este trabajo se invierte el argumento y se evalúa cómo la tenencia de vivienda puede generar situaciones de pobreza. En él se estiman distintos indicadores de accesibilidad y se obtiene evidencia empírica de la distinta situación de pobreza de los hogares españoles según su tenencia. Utilizando los microdatos de la Encuesta de Calidad de Vida para España, el artículo segmenta la información por tenencia residencial y calcula las líneas de pobrezas asociadas a la propiedad, el alquiler a precios de mercado, el alquiler por debajo de los precios de mercado y la cesión gratuita de la vivienda, cuatro fórmulas de tenencia del parque español. Los resultados sugieren que la elevada tasa de propiedad ha protegido de la pobreza a un gran número de hogares pobres propietarios, especialmente tras la crisis económica en España.
