Digital skills gaps - a closer look at the Digital Skills Index (DSI 2.0)

Abstract

Digital skills are key to a competitive, resilient and inclusive Europe. The rapid development of technology and its adoption in our economy requires that Europeans are digital competent. Yet, 36% of European adults still lack basic digital skills, and a further 8% rarely or never use the internet. This policy brief uses data from the Digital Skills Indicator (DSI 2.0), used to monitor the Digital Decade Policy Programme target of at least 80% of adults with at least basic digital skills by 2030. By unpacking the DSI 2.0, we provide results on areas of digital skills requiring development, and the groups of adults that would require further digital skills development.
