Política Comercial: Instrumentos y Antecedentes. Chile en los Siglos XIX y XX

Abstract

El presente documento reúne y evalúa material disperso referente a importaciones, aranceles y en general, a la política comercial de la República. La manera de entender las páginas que siguen es como un producto, intermedio debiera decirse, de una línea de investigación más amplia, cuyo objetivo general es profundizar en el entendimiento de la evolución experimentada por la República, de las políticas desarrolladas y del crecimiento observado. Un importante avance en esta línea de investigación es el extenso conjunto de datos y series que se ha reunido, depurado y construido a lo largo de varios años, material que ha sido propuesto para un libro. El presente Documento de Trabajo se inserta de lleno en dicha línea de investigación. Por una parte presenta las discusiones y evaluaciones de algunas de las series de datos incluidos en el mencionado proyecto de libro; por otra se debe entender como la presentación y discusión del material empírico para investigaciones sobre proteccionismo y sobre el carácter de la gran depresión de los años treinta.
