Quo vadis Euroraum?

Abstract

Der IMK Report beschäftigt sich mit den anhaltenden Inflationsdifferenzen im Euroraum. Diese sind primär das Ergebnis einer uneinheitlichen Lohnpolitik und für die weitere konjunkturelle Entwicklung im Euroraum mit erheblichen Risiken behaftet. So identifiziert der IMK Report zwei mögliche Szenarien für die nahe Zukunft: Ein Stabilisierungsszenario, in dem Deutschlands außenwirtschaftliche Dynamik allmählich auf die Binnenwirtschaft übergreift und der Euroraum insgesamt von der deutschen Konjunktur profitiert und in einen stabilen Aufschwung gleitet. Demgegenüber steht ein - nach Ansicht des IMK wahrscheinlicheres - Destabilisierungsszenario, in dem die anderen Länder des Euroraums zunehmend außenwirtschaftlich unter Druck geraten und ebenfalls zu einer Strategie der Lohnzurückhaltung greifen müssen. In diesem Szenario droht ein realer Abwertungswettlauf, der letztlich in eine europäische Deflation und Stagnation mündet. Deutschland wäre davon besonders getroffen. Der Report zeigt wirtschaftspolitische Strategien auf, mit denen eine solche Entwicklung vermieden werden kann.
