La santé au fil du temps et des générations : dynamique des inégalités sociales de santé parmi les immigrés et leurs descendants

Abstract

Ce document de travail s’intéresse à l’état de santé des immigrés et descendants d’immigrés en France et à son évolution au fil des années passées en France pour les immigrés, et au fil des générations. A partir des données de l’enquête Ined-Insee TeO2 (2019-2020), plus riches sur la santé que ne l’était la première édition de TeO, nous analysons quatre indicateurs : la santé perçue, l’épisode dépressif caractérisé dans les 12 derniers mois, le tabagisme quotidien et l’obésité. Enfin, nous nous intéressons aussi au lien entre discrimination et santé : les niveaux de discrimination dans le système de santé d’une part, et le lien entre expérience de la discrimination et indicateurs de santé d’autre part. Nous montrons qu’au fil du temps passé en France, la santé des immigrés se détériore : des conditions de vie plus défavorables que celles de la population majoritaire expliquent en grande partie ce désavantage ; l’adoption de certains comportements défavorables à la santé comme le tabagisme peuvent aussi participer de cette détérioration. L’état de santé des descendants d’immigrés est plus proche de celui de la population majoritaire. La discrimination perçue dans le système de santé est un phénomène peu fréquent par rapport à d’autres sphères (travail, logement) mais qui touche plus souvent les femmes, les minorités racisées et les personnes précaires.
