Vergleichende Analyse von Länderarbeitsmärkten : Länderstudie Rheinland-Pfalz

Abstract

"Die im Vergleich zu Westdeutschland unterdurchschnittliche Beschäftigungsentwicklung in Rheinland-Pfalz ist bedingt durch einen ungünstigen Branchenmix und einen vergleichsweise geringen Anteil von hoch qualifizierten Arbeitskräften. Die regionalen Schwerpunkte der Wirtschaftsstruktur, die Chemische Industrie in Ludwigshafen, der Fahrzeugbau in Kaiserslautern sowie die Schuhindustrie in und um Pirmasens sind in der Vergangenheit durch einen starken Beschäftigungsabbau gekennzeichnet, während es im Land an Wachstumsbranchen mangelt. Problematisch ist zudem in vielen Orten die durch die Auflösung von US-amerikanischen, französischen und deutschen Militärstandorten eingeleitete Beschäftigungskonversion. Positiv auf die Beschäftigungsentwicklung haben sich hingegen ein vergleichsweise niedriges Lohnniveau, eine Betriebsgrößenstruktur mit vielen Beschäftigten in Betrieben mittlerer Größe und die Attraktivität einzelner Regionen für den Tourismus ausgewirkt. Rheinland-Pfalz ist bekannt durch die größte Weinanbaufläche Deutschlands. Für die zukünftige Beschäftigungspolitik in Rheinland-Pfalz dürfte eine Strategie Erfolg versprechend sein, die neben der Stärkung des freizeitbezogenen Dienstleistungssektors auch Unternehmen aus anderen Wachstumsbranchen anzieht und darüber hinaus auf eine Verbesserung der Infrastruktur sowie auf eine Anhebung des Ausbildungsniveaus setzt."
