Abstract

"Mit dem langfristigen Rückgang und der Alterung der Bevölkerung wird in Deutschland auch deren erwerbsfähiger Teil schrumpfen, und zwar überproportional. Wird nicht gegengesteuert, so ist insbesondere in den neuen Bundesländern mit einem dramatischen Einbruch zu rechnen. Dies verheißt für die aktuell schon kriselnde ostdeutsche Wirtschaft auch in ferner Zukunft wenig Gutes. Denn für ein prosperierendes Gemeinwesen sind genügend Bürger und Arbeitskräfte unentbehrlich, da wirtschaftliche Dynamik auch hinreichend viele Produzenten und Konsumenten voraussetzt. Da von einer Steigerung der Geburtenrate auf mittlere Sicht keine Wunderdinge zu erwarten sind, bleibt nur die Förderung der Zuwanderung von In- und Ausländern.
