Erwerbsbeteiligung von Frauen: Wie bringt man Beruf und Kinder unter einen Hut?

Abstract

Das IAB hat untersucht, wie Frauen mit Kindern die Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf einschätzen. Hierzu wurde im Jahre 2000 eine telefonische Erhebung bei 3000 west- und ostdeutschen Frauen durchgeführt, deren Kinder nach 1991 geboren waren. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Erwerbsbeteiligung dieser Frauen u.a. vom Alter der Kinder und dem damit verbundenen Erziehungsgeld abhängt. Mehr Frauen als bisher - ganz gleich ob sie Kleinkinder, Kindergartenkinder oder Kinder im Grundschulalter haben - würden sich gerne am Erwerbsleben beteiligen. Rund zwei Drittel der Mütter wünschen sich, dass ein Partner voll, der andere Teilzeit arbeitet. (IAB2)
