Abstract

This text aims at building a conceptual framework to give a comprehensive view of monetary sovereignty. Two conceptual levels are developed. At a primary level, four constants are identified. At a higher level variants take place. These variants are studied in the context of the second half of the twentieth century. The emergence and the stability of one of these variants is especially studied : the principle of national money exclusive.
