Abstract

The concept of diversity has become a legitimate subject for scientific inquiry in France, though it has been timidly generated when it comes to study a particular group of organizations: French business schools. This article aims at mirroring the nature of the stakes existing between diversity-friendly policies in these organizations and their competitive environment, since it hasn't been explored by French researches in management science yet. We reveal that the socio-political context in which French business schools are growing has had the effect of making them the prime players on societal debates on equal opportunities and diversity, and that they have no option but to define their goals on the matter given the new international competitive situation.
