Abstract

In this contribution we seek to clarify and analyze the links that exist or may exist between the world of hospitals and healthcare and that of commerce. We show that there are three ways of conceiving and analyzing these relationships. Firstly, by taking a general approach to the retailization of healthcare; secondly, by addressing the question of the retail offer in hospitals; and thirdly, by considering the diametrically opposed logic that refers to the medical and healthcare offer by retailers. In all cases, whether the rapprochement is initiated by healthcare or retail players, a similar evolution and strategic behavior can be observed.
