Abstract

The growing use of information and communication technologies is accompanying changes in the financing of the agri-food sector. The rise of crowdfunding is helping to alleviate the difficulty of access to bank credit for some small, unconventional farms. Using a mixed method applied to market gardening in Normandy, the article shows how these digital platforms support the agro-ecological transition and, by revealing the fixed capital and inputs of small alternative market gardening farms, what transition is thus financed. In addition, the data related to participatory financing offer results-hypotheses, at the territorial scale, on the types of agrosystems that are more or less favourable to participatory financing.
