Abstract

This paper is based on an exploratory study which has been conducted in two engineering universities in France. This study provides elements to better understand reactions of professors to the disruptive event which has been occurred by mobile technology in their work environment. The reaction and responses of professors as users with regard to the mobile technology varied extensively within each studied university. Especially this study highlights professor's perceived control and his initial perception over adoption of mobile technology play an important role in understanding his resilience. Our analysis accounts a wide range of user behaviors which suggests that increasing professors' perceptions of control over mobile technology would help facilitate their resilience. Refer to the coping theory adapted to our empirical result received shows individuals perform the different coping activities: IT-individual and individual-work environment.
