Abstract

Diese Studie befasst sich mit der Frage, ob die BRICS-Staaten eine gemeinsame supranationale digitale Zentralbankwährung (CBDC) einführen sollten. Ausgehend von der Feststellung, dass weltweit zahlreiche CBDC-Projekte in Erwägung gezogen werden und das Thema in der akademischen Literatur kaum behandelt wird, haben wir versucht, eine allgemeine Definition des CBDC-Konzepts vorzuschlagen. Auf der Grundlage dieser Definition werden sowohl die technischen als auch die monetären Möglichkeiten und Einschränkungen im Fall des supranationalen CBDC-Projekts der BRICS-Staaten untersucht.
