La Construction De La Personne Agee Dependante En Ehpad

Abstract

L'actualité récente met en évidence les tensions qui traversent les EHPAD, entre soucis de rentabilité et bien être du résident. Face à une multiplication des outils de gestion, les directeurs d'EHPAD sont soumis à de multiples indicateurs orientant leurs décisions. Dans une perspective foucaldienne, nous mettons en évidence les caractéristiques de la personne âgée dépendante telle qu'elle apparaît à travers les supports du dialogue entre les établissements et leurs tutelles. Nous montrons ainsi qu'elle apparaît comme un individu « calculable » (Townley, 1983) et gouvernable (Miller et O'Leary, 1987) et comme un patient « quantifié » (Vaivio, 1999), c'est-à-dire un être médical plutôt qu'un être social. Cette représentation a des conséquences sur la gestion des EHPAD et notamment les priorités des équipes soignantes. Cette recherche complète les travaux s'inscrivant dans une perspective critique des outils de gestion.
