Abstract

France's arms industry has undeniable economic advantages, which do not hide its weaknesses. It has a high level of technological competence, a strong spirit of innovation, the production of quality goods, and a demand structure that often benefits from a captive market. However, international competition is increasingly strong, industrial rigidities weaken production systems and the disarmament process initiated since the collapse of the USSR is beginning to pose major economic problems that will lead to necessary restructuring, with its share of staff reductions and regional and sectorial crises. However, the arms industry constitutes an undeniable strategic and political force in the international concert.
