A model of waitirtg in tine, applied to regional data, makes it possible to compare the effects of the levels of influx and outflow on the labor market. The result is an opposition between highly urban regions in which mobility is high and slightly urbanized regions in which it is low. This distinction also becomes apparent when disparities in unemployment are examined in terms of sex and age. It is likewise found when the rates of entering the unemployed population and the races of leaving the unemployed population are studied separately. These results clearly show the basic difference in labor markets varying in site and In level of urbanization.
