Rural development in Europe : a research frontier for agricultural economists

Abstract

L'article défend l'idée qu'il faut développer les recherches sur le développement rural en Europe. Dans un premier temps, l'auteur explique pourquoi il est important d'élargir de façon significative le domaine d'intérêt de la profession à la recherche sur l'économie des régions rurales. Ensuite, il montre que cette extension concerne deux aspects : la progression des connaissances et la participation à un projet de politique économique centré sur le développement rural. Ensuite, il examine les questions que le développement rural pose à la recherche économique et termine par quelques considérations sur les voies de recherche à explorer.
