Abstract

"La religion : un paysage en pleine évolution", ce titre du chapitre "religion" du précédent livre, qui portait sur les enquêtes de 1981 et 1990, conviendrait encore plus à ce nouveau chapitre. Partant du constat précédent, que nous complèterons par l'apport des enquêtes françaises récentes, nous découvrirons quels sont les principaux changements intervenus de 1981 à 1999. Puis nous approfondirons les transformations les plus importantes, comme la poussée des croyances relatives à l'après-mort en particulier chez les sans religion, et nous verrons quel est le rôle éventuel de la religion dans la revalorisation constatée de la famille, de l'autorité et de certaines normes civiques. Nous nous limiterons aux attitudes religieuses telles que les enquêtes par sondage et surtout telles que les enquêtes Valeurs permettent de les saisir. Cela ne nous dira pas tout des évolutions religieuses actuelles, loin de là, mais cela permettra de repérer et de pondérer les principales tendances à l'œuvre.
