Socio-Economic and Ecological Benefits of Mangrove Plantation

Abstract

In this study an earnest attempt has been made to understand the social and environmental aspects of mangroves in Gujarat state. The study has considered various issues of social, environment and economical conditions of coastal communities. It is apparent from this study that increase in mangrove cover (leading the trend in India) along the Gujarat coast has checked the salinity ingression and favored agricultural practice.
