Tres Décadas en Diez Gráficos: El Desarrollo Inclusivo en América Latina a la Luz de las Encuestas de Hogares

Abstract

Este trabajo examina el desarrollo de América Latina durante las últimas tres décadas mediante curvas de incidencia del crecimiento y tasas de crecimiento ponderadas calculadas sobre la base de microdatos armonizados de encuestas de hogares. Durante las últimas tres décadas América Latina ha avanzado en términos de la mayoría de los indicadores básicos de desarrollo. En promedio, el crecimiento en el ingreso y en algunas variables educativas y habitacionales ha sido más intenso entre los estratos de menores ingresos. En contraste, en otras dimensiones importantes (ej. educación superior, participación laboral femenina) los avances fueron más lentos entre los más vulnerables. La evidencia señala que, a pesar de los progresos en casi todas las dimensiones medibles del desarrollo en las encuestas de hogares, las carencias y las brechas siguen siendo enormes.
