Algunos efectos psicológicos de trabajar en el sector informal

Abstract

“En 1996 se cumple un cuarto de siglo desde que el antropólogo Keith Hart acunara un nuevo concepto para acercarse al dinamismo de un grupo de trabajadores que estaban al margen del sector moderno de la economía. Desde entonces la gran mayoría de las investigaciones ha estudiado los aspectos económicos del sector informal, algunas han resaltado las características demográficas de los trabajadores del sector (para el caso colombiano ver López 1986 y Ocampo 1988), pocas han realizado una caracterización social de estos trabajadores (Pérez Sáinz 1990, Portes 1985, Roberts 1989), y solo unas cuantas han explorado las orientaciones ideológicas de los mismos trabajadores (Pina 1981, Tueros 1984). El estudio que aquí presento explora la relación entre la clase social y el funcionamiento psicológico del trabajador colombiano. A los criterios básicos utilizados para definir las clases sociales agrego uno relacionado con la situación laboral del trabajador. Este criterio, el acatamiento o incumplimiento de la legislación laboral, permite comparar el funcionamiento psicológico de quienes laboran en el sector formal con el de trabajadores informales de la misma clase social. Este texto comienza por resumir los resultados de investigaciones previas sobre el sector informal. Luego presenta la metodología utilizada para estudiar el funcionamiento psicológico de los trabajadores informales y los resultados obtenidos con la investigación. Por último, enumera ciertas limitaciones que tiene este tipo de estudio y algunas consideraciones que de él se derivan.” Roberto Gutiérrez.
