Empalme de subclases del IPC de Chile Series mensuales 1989-2008

Abstract

En este trabajo se presenta el empalme de las series a nivel de subclases del Índice de Precios al Consumidor (IPC) de Chile, para el período que va desde abril-1989 hasta diciembre-2008. La metodología ocupada es la misma que utiliza el Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas (INE) para obtener series empalmadas del IPC total. Se describen las homologaciones entre los productos de las canastas con distintas bases y los supuestos utilizados para llevar a cabo este empalme. Como parte del ejercicio, se destaca la importancia del fenómeno de la no-aditividad de series empalmadas, el cual explicaría una sustancial diferencia entre las cifras oficiales y las que se desprenderían de la agregación aritmética de series desagregadas. Haciendo los rebases necesarios de las series empalmadas, la agregación de los resultados exhibe coherencia con las cifras agregadas oficiales publicadas por el INE.
