Índice de Competitividad Colombiana con Terceros Países en el Mercado Estadounidense (ITCR-C)

Abstract

Se propone una medida de Tasa de Cambio Real complementaria a las que se calculan actualmente. Se trata de un índice de competitividad de las exportaciones denominado "con terceros países", ya que no toma en cuenta de manera directa la relación con los socios comerciales, sino la importancia de países que compiten con dichas exportaciones. El documento presenta los resultados obtenidos para Colombia en el período 1990-2003, tomando como referencia el mercado estadounidense. Su construcción ofrece no sólo una medida alternativa de Tasa de Cambio Real, sino también la posibilidad de hacer un seguimiento a la competitividad de cuatro de nuestros principales productos de exportación (café, flores, banano y textiles) en el mercado de los Estados Unidos.
