Abstract

Institutional and private curators of temperate and subtropical tree fruit, tree nut, and small fruit (grapes, berries) collections in North America and Europe were solicited to submit their lists of cultivars, advanced selections, species materials, and germplasm lines to aid in preparing an inventory of germplasm available for the establishment of clonal repositories on both continents. This inventory expands and updates to April 1980 the first inventory, ARS-NE-76, "Fruit and Tree Nut Germplasm Resources Inventory," issued in 1977, and adds material from European collections. Curators have supplied descriptions or ratings of salient plant and fruit characteristics as compared to those of standard cultivars.
