Abstract

Excerpts from the report: This report on prices and price spreads of eggs, frying chickens, and turkeys is a summary of data compiled monthly from January 1956 through December 1961. It is in partial response to a directive from the U. S. Congress to the U. S. Department of Agriculture to make a number of special studies on price spreads between farmers and consumers. Since 1956, Congress has been earmarking funds for special studies on this subject. These studies are part of a broad program of research designed to provide public information on farm-to-retail price spreads on food.
