Abstract

Fruit and vegetable trade between the United States and Mexico grew tremendously between 1970 and 1992. Mexico was the major source of U.S. imports of winter and cool-weather vegetables and citrus fruit. U.S. exports of fruit and vegetables to Mexico also began to grow, especially in the last few years of the period. U.S. horticultural products, however, were still minor export commodities in 1992, compared with grains and animal products. The data in this report are useful for understanding the trade situation between the two countries.
