Commerce intra-regional et croissance economique: quels enjeux pour la securite alimentaire dans lespace CEMAC?

Abstract

Le commerce intra-régional est au centre des préoccupations des décideurs publics dans la plupart des pays en raison notamment d e s o n rôle de premier plan dans la sécurité alimentaire et la croissance économique des pays. La présente étude se propose de déterminer l’impact du commerce intra-régional sur la croissance économique et de ressortir ses implications pour la sécurité alimentaire dans l’espace CEMAC2 . Afin de tenir compte des spécificités individuelles et temporelles des phénomènes de croissance, nous utilisons la méthode des moments généralisés (GMM) en panel dynamique pour estimer l’équation de croissance de la zone CEMAC sur la période 1990-2010 puis nous caractérisons la position commerciale alimentaire de cet espace économique. D’une façon générale, les résultats montrent d’une part que, le commerce intra-régional a un impact positif sur la croissance économique en zone CEMAC bien qu’il constitue une faible part des échanges commerciaux de cette zone. Et d’autre part qu’un accroissement du commerce intra-régional permet de renforcer la sécurité alimentaire dans cette région. Ces résultats font ressortir la nécessité de stimuler le commerce intra-régional, et de renforcer le processus d’intégration en Afrique centrale.
